What was your "I should look into this" moment?

I started going to WDW with my parents as a little kid in the 70's and as I got older it was just about every year in the 80's and 90's and some trip ( late 90's early 2000's?) I told my mother we should look into it. and she said no way. its probably $100k and we'll fall in love with it and will be bummed we cant afford it, so we avoided the sales folks in the parks . Flash forward to 2003 and my mother passes away. In 2004 my cousins and I ( very small, close family , we are more like sisters) went on a girls trip and my cousin Melanie said I should look into it, I was like no way, it'll be too expensive, she ignored me walked over to one of the sales agent and asked the minimum buy in, they were selling SSR at $84 a point, I was like no way whats the catch lol. I was scared there would be sales pressure so I didnt take a tour , But as soon as I got home from that trip, I called and joined over the phone using some of the money my mother left me, its what she would have wanted me to do with it, everyone assured me:) Since then I've added on at AKL & BWV. Funnily enough- my two cousins from the girls trip? They and their families are all DVC members now too LOL Melanie and her family own at Riveira and her sister Amanda and family own at VWL & AKL ( My daughter and son in law also are members, they own at GF, its a family addiction LOL)

We planned a very last-minute "Escape Wedding" at Disney in 2008. I was in Kuwait (on my home from Iraq) and Hubby was in Germany. He had never been to WDW, but was working with our wedding planner to book our hotel. We wanted to stay at the Poly, but it was unavailable. She suggested a 1BR villa at Wilderness Lodge. He grudgingly took it.

When we walked into the room, we knew we were in trouble! The jetted tub (for me) and the Washer and Dryer (for him) made it hard to ever go back. 7 months later we bought our first contract.

I was going to WDW every couple or few years as a teenager in the mid 70’s young adult in the early 80’s, married couple in the late 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. 

I had a very vague knowledge of DVC, but assumed it was not for me. While on a DCL cruise with friends, they confessed that they were pretty sure they were going to buy into DVC. I went to the DVC office on the cruise ship, chatted briefly with the rep and asked them to mail us the info package. 

When the package arrived, I watched the DVC VHS tape a bunch of times, read the material, studied the points charts, researched online and decided to take the leap. We bought over the phone, having never been to a sales pitch and having never seen a DVC room!  Beach Club Villas at $75 per point. That first stay in a one bedroom confirmed that it was the right decision.

We had been on the fence for years. We didn't travel to the east coast often, about once a decade. We took a cash "split stay" trip. Riverside, Wish, Kidani. The night we got back from the ship we had an amazing adventure, we call it Giraffes at Midnight. We watched the giraffes wander over and eat while we sat on our balcony. Once we were home, I started crunching numbers, we met with a counselor, and made the leap. We have since added on. We are no longer once a decade. more like 2-3 times a year.

We were once a decade, but only because we didn't have the opportunity, despite being a seven- to eight-hour drive away. This past summer, my wife and I decided to make the leap to Polynesian. I wanted to do it a couple of years ago when Grand Floridian was available because that is where we honeymooned in 2007, and we loved it. But Polynesian keeps us on the monorail loop, and we love the Polynesian culture.
