We just went for three days and that was perfect - we even wrapped up a bit early on the third day. I would suggest getting the park hopper - especially on the DCA day you may find you've done everything you wanted to do, and park hopping is super easy.

I’m a firm no go on resale restricted resorts. Too much risk of rapid depreciation. If you absolutely love it, good chance it will be like riviera - available at almost half price resale in just a few years.

Sounds like you need a small resale contract add-on 😂! I'd also say go for it - I used to be a point banker to build up points for big trips, but over the last few years we've been doing a lot more borrowing.
It's like everything else. I also bought my first car for about $10,000 - those were the days! Now basic new cars cost $30K+. I do feel for folks just getting started - early 2000s college, housing, and necessities like transportation, food and DVC points were all a lot more affordable on an early career salary 😂😂😂
I think you're right on the point charts - right at or just over the current ultra premium locations. It really is something - when I bought AK back in 2007 it was 250 points for $24K - $96/pt. That's enough to stay in a 2BR standard view in travel season 4 for a week every year. There might be some different views at
You can't go wrong between the two really - I like that table on DVC resale market as a simple straight line way to look at things. However, when you take into account time value of money the lower upfront cost for SSR would I think put the cost per pt below Poly. However, if you think you might be interested in 1/2 BR
We're probably all done now at 450 points, but when we needed to add to our original 250 AKV direct we bought SSR resale. Those points were primarily necessary because we wanted to go to Aulani and needed a 2 BR for a week during peak travel season. Next up is a 3 night stay at Grand Cal again at peak times in a 2BR -
I'd be all in on the resale option there - your priority of WDW or Aulani means the points are just as flexible for WDW with the exception of Riviera and Cabins / Lakeshore leaving plenty to choose from. Aulani points will give you a much better chance at 11 months to get what you want, especially the less pricey categ

Yea - really the original Polynesian studios are the best monorail location - just a short walk to TTC for either MK or Epcot: it’s slow from anywhere else! We did BCV once and while we really enjoyed it as a summer pool and Epcot trip, it was one and done for us too. The resale restrictions are a huge bummer. I unders

For me there’s just no way on direct - it’s not just the per point prices at poly or VDH, it’s also that the point charts have gotten considerably more expensive. I know I sound like “when I first had kids hamburgers were a dollar and DVC points were $96 a point!” But it really did seem back then like a slam dunk value

Yes - a better ticket deal for WDW would be great. The Disneyland ticket deal is useful though - it’s worked well for us to plan a broader trip to California this year and sneak in 3 days at Disneyland on the weekdays. Throwing in the the lightning lane multi pass with the deal out there is nice.

Disney is going to have some serious cash coming in 2042 - 2044! Not only will the cost per point be astronomical for these resorts when they resell them but they’ll be able to make the point charts look more like the other premium locations. Oh and perhaps they’ll sell Hilton Head and Vero beach too’. $$$$
We’re probably done with 250 AKV direct and 200 SSR resale. But I I could see under just the right circumstances adding more points direct to use for annual passes with MMB. Problem is that could go away at any time!. I’d love to have VDH for a DL option but it would be hard to buy a resale restricted resort and direct
