I have been able to recently "make a request" through DVC chat. There is always disclaimer that it is not guaranteed. I always keep mine general but I wonder if any of that is actually taken or used if its all AI or if they just select from drop down categories.

I was able to put in a room request theough chat - didnt get the room. However during check in they did allow me to basically pick the room i wanted. It looked like they had touring plans up to show the room views.
I just submittrd requests via email to member services for our summer stay. We also have an arrival night at Pop, I followed the Touring Plan guidance to email Disney and share the specifics of the trip and request. We’ll see jos it goes!
