From my understanding, you are correct. Your ability to resort hop will not change since you stay on property. Anyone staying on property will be able to resort hop.

We used to reserve Sci-Fi for every trip. That place is the best when it is hot outside. My daughters, who are older now, loved that place. We didn't eat there for a few years and then went back last year. It didn't disappoint!
Going off the theme of small take out dining in the parks, we love the corndogs at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom. And it seems like every time we are there, a parade is going by. Add in the fact that it is right across the "moat" from the castle, it's a great quiet spot to grab a quick bite.
Yeah, it can get busy. But it depends when you try to ride it. If it’s after park closing, it is JAMMED. However, we have really good luck and don’t run into it being too busy when we are riding it mid-day. The monorail has a special place in my heart…it’s so Disney!
If you do, I recommend anytime from mid July through Labor Day. That’s when the horse track is running and the entire town is electric. Although, fall is also gorgeous with tons of things to do outside (Saratoga is located at the foot of the Adirondacks). Stay away from winter…it gets COLD!

Disney should definitely extend the Skyliner to Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom resorts. Total no-brainer. That would make them feel a little more connected to the rest of WDW.
I 100% with "buy where you want to stay". You'll be sorry if you don't, especially when you go to book at 7 months during a busy time of year. There have always been two different colored building at BCV. The light blue color if for the non-DVC part of the resort. When the DVC portion of BCV was built, they used the different color to identify that DVC portion.
