Already for 2042
What to you think Disney will do, come the year 2042?
The consensus on Vero and Hilton Head is that they'll be sold off. Its pretty clear OKW is being ROFR'd into a 2057 resort. I bet Boardwalk and Beach Club will be re-imagined into new properties with new point charts that match the demand. Who knows about Boulder Ridge. Probably the same as BCV and BWV.

I think Disney will shut down the DVC side of Boardwalk and the Beach Club. They will rebuild both resorts because the location is a premier.. As for OKW they really can't do anything because of the extended contracts. Disney will probably not make any decisions or thought to it until 2040 so enjoy both resorts.

As above, the beach properties will be sold off, the dues are just too high and will take forever to sell. The reason why there are VB subsidized dues contracts is because they had a hard time selling it and decided to not make the second phase of VB likely because of how hard it was for them to sell. It's an unfortunate loss because those properties help a lot with making the membership more diverse aside from visiting a Disney park. And then you look at Aulani and that has been selling for the past 100 years or so, I don't think we'll ever see another off property be built.
For Beach Club and Boardwalk.. they'll either keep them the same or consider building a tower resort in their place or nearby. It'll mess with the skyline if they build a tower style resort but their profits will be through the roof and in a prime location.

There is zero chance that if DVC keeps printing money like it does today that this happens. They will be reassociated into a new associationwith a brand new point chart that already scares me of what they would be in 2042/2043.

This is so true. And it underscores how overvalued direct buys at o-14 resorts are today as they pertain to being able to stay in future DVC resorts. The new resort point chart inflation is so bad (see: Riviera) that you donβt have enough points to comfortably stay at the new places anyway! So what again was the benefit I had to make sure I paid extra for?
Well, I believe resale owners like myself will not be able to stay at BCV and BWV anymore. Hopefully weβll still have OKW as an option until 2057.

I think it is important to remember nearly the entire executive team will be different in 2042... DVC has changed a lot over the years... who knows what another 16 years have in store for the program!

This is part of the reason we bought direct at copper creek in 2022 instead of Riv. The points go a lot further for us. It cost more $$ up front but needed less points overall.

We love RIV, but resale doesnβt make sense to us since weβd only be able to stay there. And if we bought direct and had to sell, weβd probably lose a bunch of money.

Being an owner of BWV, the time line works great for me as my girls we be graduating college when the contract expires, so I get to take the to Disney throughout their younger years at a great resort that they enjoy going to. When our contract expires, I have yet to decide if we buy another contract or not. If they offered an extension at Boardwalk until 2057, I would sign up. However, like most have mentioned, the points chart is dirt cheap compared to the newer resorts, so I doubt extensions will be offered.
The one that intrigues me the most is BRV. When they converted some of the cash side of Wilderness Lodge into CCV they pretty much matched the point chart from BRV even though it was quite a bit lower than other resorts they'd recently sold. It's one of the reasons we own so many points there - nice long contract but with a 2042 point chart. So what happens when BRV expires? If they renovate it and try to resell it they are going to have to make it something incredibly special to justify changing the point chart to better align with other recent resorts vs CCV's. It's kind of a vicious cycle for them. They matched CCV to BRV, but will they be forced to match BRV 2.0 back to CCV???
Time will tell ...........

I've wondered about all those accommodations suddenly being taken offline. I can't imagine the company being cool with that much lost inventory. If Disney goes the route of doing top to bottom refurbs, I wonder if they'll do it one or two at a time and just rent out the others for cash. Or maybe they'll go ahead and just roll them (minus OKW) right into a trust model.

2042 is a long time away and There's been a "new" resort every 2 years... if this keeps up, there will be another 10 resorts before these expire... On top of some of the 2042's getting put back into the system after a refresh (BWV/BCV) imo.

I would think that vero and hilton head would be sold off but there still no the easiest to get into at certin times. I think they still might keep them to free up the point in other resorts to sell as cash stays
