As far as lowering prices to the other resorts, in sure that is not their intent but adding supply will likely have its normal impact certain times of the year. If anything, it will increase availability and allow more people to stay onsite during those high demand times. But in slower seasons, yes- more rooms can affect the prices overall to drive demand. As far as the 2042 portion, who knows what their plan or intentions are regarding that 🤷‍♂️. Most believe the decision makers arent really thinking about it because they will be long gone and it will be someone elses problem. I am sure, however, the decision making in say 5-6 years will be much more pointed towards those resorts expiring.

ROFR was near zero for quite a while….. so it all depends on what you are using as a baseline. They seem to be in a pattern of ROFRing OKW 2042, “sold out” resorts with strong retail demand (VGC, VGF), and resorts that they decide to put on a time sensative “sale”. Of course….. they have raised the base price so outrageously high that it makes buying the “sold out” resorts a dubious financial decision.

I was surprised by intiial #’s as well, given how well the Mandalorian show has been received by fans. It seems to be the one piece of storytelling from Disney-Star Wars that all fans enjoy consistently. My best guess is what you alluded to- Disney has harmed its Star Wars-movie reputation quite a bit. I think it will take 1-2 solid movies to help solidify that reputation again, where people actually anticipate and get excited for movies again. (I was very excited for this, and am in the camp of “i want more star wars- always”) I also think word of mouth is a bit more mixed than the score might show. Many people told me, prior to me seeing it, that it was essentially a 2+ hr long episode of the Mandalorian. I’m not sure the small universe/small impact play was the right one. You could’ve tied in this smaller story to some broader conflict/villain/happening in the shows etc and given it a little more significance. Something that makes people feel like they’re going to be missing out for not knowing what happens. I’m glad Disney didnt do anyting too ridiculous(you mentioned hyperspace into a star destroyer..) but surely there is a happy middle here. I’m not sure if theres a massive market for “longer mandalorian episodes… but at the movies!” I know i would go for sure, but I am a die hard fan. All that being said- totally agree with you. Good, not great movie that I’m happy to have had. Hoping it marks more Star Wars movies thay are committed to restoring the storytelling and unique fun of seeing SW in the theaters.

My guess is neither will be fully available af 7 months. Youll have better luck with stay 1 at AK, but 5 consecutive nights is a lot, esepcially at a very popular time. If you’re willing to book 1 night at a time, i rhink youd have a good chance of getting it done over the course of the entire 7 month window. BruinDisney’s strategy is the right one- it works best if you have extra points and can be flexible. If not, you need to weigh what is your priority- getting consecutive stays for the trip vs these specific locations. If you want to go for it, id start by booking whatever is open at 7 months, then making wait lists for individual nights. Stalk the system, and as you add nights, make new waitlists. You can then call member services and have them all merged into one booking. The downside/risk is you could get to March and only have 3 nights of one of the stays, and 4 of the other, etc. if you dont mind changing rooms 3+ times during the trip then itll be relatively easy to get done. My guess is you can probably get Stay 1 done over the course of 7 months, Stay 2 will be the “?” But is possible for sure.

Do you have spare points to book rooms? If not, it might be difficult to find 5 consecutive days. The problem is that if only one or two of the 5 days show up, you would be put in a position where you have to be roomless or wait for the other days to show up. If you wait, then those days could disappear. I would try breaking your reservation into 2 or 3 day chunks at most. Then you can replace them with days that you want at the other resort. You'd have to be OK with the potential of having to move a few times, even if it's likely that you'll be able to piece together the reservation (and not have to move).

Forgot to post a follow up, we saw it in IMAX at a completely packed theater on Friday May 22nd. I personally thought it was a good, but not great movie. It doesn't have the same "universe changing" or large impact that the Skywalker Saga has in each movie and there wasn't anything offensive in it that at least in my opinion Star Wars fans would go back and complain about. There's no "Somehow Palpatine returned" or hyperspace into a Star Destroyer moments. It is made to be a "safe", small universe movie. Don't get me wrong though - it was an enjoyable movie. I liked it, I just don't think it will go down in history as one of the great Star Wars movies. I am shocked that the 2nd weekend box office is so bad ($24M) - I thought it would do better because the Rotten Tomatoes audience score is pretty good, so I thought word of mouth might actually boost the box office. But perhaps Disney has damaged Star Wars too much.

LSL will be a premium offering and the cabins will dilute this... it's just two different clientele. If it is added to the CFW pool, then we're goign to have a 2042 problem again.. where mulitple properties end in the same year. But also, I beleive it's possible for both LSL to be in the same trust, but actually not be added to the CFW pool. This would mean it would be functionally treated as a different property, even if it's under the same trust.

It’s a pretty expensive venture that I would only do if you’re 100% sure that your current contract doesn’t mean your needs. Additionally, given that Saratoga Springs usually has a lot of availability inside of seven months, I question why you couldn’t just use your copper creek contract to book rooms at Saratoga Springs. DVC makes them money in multiple steps so it makes complete sense. They can rent out rooms via cash until they're declared, with no rush to do so. (See CFW) They make a ton of money on the rooms via DVC sales once declared. Then DVC members pay their dues which helps pay for the upkeep. So, while it's the new "hot" resort, they can just list undeclared rooms as cash at a premium (no/light sales, etc). And when they start needing more and more maintenance, more rooms will most likely declared for DVC which shifts the costs to DVC members.

I picked October-December 2026 not based on anything other than July-September seemed to soon and the 2027 options seemed too far, LOL, so not very scientific.

As a RIV owner, I have found that this resort has become a must book at 11 months on the dot for certain (and almost all) dates for standard and duo studios now. You can be a little more relaxed on the preferred view studio but not much. The availability for standard studios is basically zero until sporadic dates in January, thru Feb, then opens up a little more in March and April which I’ll drop here. The preferred view is a little more available with sporadic dates here and there from now til next April but no full weeks open up until Christmas week which is POINT HEAVY. This is the down side of owning here. Everyone is battling for studios. If you buy in, buy enough points for at least a 1 BR if you really like staying here. Just my 2 cents :) Standard studio availability as of noon on 6/1/26

We absolutely loved it. We were able to get a very last minute reservation the day before in the busy window between Christmas and New Year’s. It worked perfectly for our arrival day. We had to almost turn into the Fort on two wheels to make our seating time but I would absolutely recommend this as a kick off to your stay.

I trust Disney is going to do this right but can't say I'm not sad to see the current version go. I always hoped this would be the one thing Disney wouldn't change. So many great lines from this show, things that are part of my everyday vernacular, like "Sarah really gets to the core of the apple". I call my wife Core of the Apple Kate because of this! I call root beer sarsaparilla, tell my family to stop interrupting while others are interrupting, and after i win in a game of some kind i say "I really smoked those guys!" Great childhood memories for me and my kids, but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next. That's progress!

June: Couples trip to Montreal with my BF, who doesn't like to travel much, and who I have not yet convinced to go to WDW. July: 3 days at Hersheypark with my BF and his kids (I've been there several times, but his kids have never been there and he hasn't been since he was young) December: Another Mother/Daughter trip to WDW- 4 nights at AKL (2 nights Jambo, 2 nights Kidani). AKL has been our favorite resort since we first visited it in 2008. I took this same December trip solo last year and fell even more in love with AKL seeing it decorated for Christmas. In 2024, we stayed at AKL in November and missed seeing the tree go up by one night! 😭I can't wait for my Mom to experience it this year!

We started adding on when I was getting ready to retire. We always wanted more trips, but work, life, kids, expenses all seemed to get in the way. While I was still working, we started our quest for more points. We now have 1008, split among both coasts. We went by the old adage, buy where you want to stay. SO we ended up with 5 home resorts! 3 in WDW and 2 in DLR. Makes for some very interesting split stays. I would love to add on more at AKV and VGC, but I would have to sell my VDH first. Dues are the limiting factor. We are just about at the point where I cringe when paying dues.

Kinda late to this party! We have 5 home resorts! # at WDW and 2 at DLR. Started with BWV and stayed that way until several years ago when we started adding on. We were getting ready to retire and wanted more points for longer stays. We also wanted a bit of variety . We now do 3 way split stays at WDW (BWV, BLT, and AK). and at DLR. Disney moves the luggage and makes it super easy. The upside at DLR is that you get 1 lightning lane (PER STAY) so that gives us 2. (dont get me started on how Disney really screwed us with this). At WDW you can get a free water park ticket at checkin. So that gives us 3. Dont know how long this perk will last (or if it is gone already) For us it is not a big deal to pack up and move. We stay at BLT and do MK and visit the monorail resorts. Then on to BWV for Epcot and HS. Then on to AKV to relax and chill and enjoy AK. At DLR staying at VGC is fantastic for park access. VDH is a great vibe. Also splitting the stay means we can stay longer with paying lower TOT at VDH. It really works well for us.

I'll just share that I checked over on the DIS boards, and at least on other DVC member said they also got an e-mail just last week that the AKV flash sale was ending 6/8. So, doesn't sound like it is just you. What isn't clear is whether that was the date Disney was always planing to end it or whether they're ending it earlier than initially planned, which has happened in the past. Definitely frustrating for your situation, but wanted to share that info. Unfortunately, unless you can somehow get that resale contract fully closed before 6/8, it will be tough to take advantage of this sale. If you have passed ROFR, you could try to work with the title company to get the sale closed this week. If you were to manage to somehow get the purchase closed and the deed recorded this week, then I'd call your guide and tell them your resale purchase closed, you're ready to buy if you can still get the flash sale pricing. That would give you a fighting chance. And, as I said earlier, if it doesn't work out, I think there are ways you can benefit from this. At a minimum, you'll now have access to member pricing. Another thing to think about if you decided you still want AKV but didn't want to wait for the next flash sale, wait until just before your next UY starts. You'll get all the points from the existing UY (by law, they have to give you the points) that you can either sell back to Disney for $20/point or have them bank the points for double first year points, but because you'll only pay prorated dues, you'll essentially be getting those points without having paid dues on them.

If the AKV flash sale really is ending June 8th, I think there is a very high likelihood it will be on flash sale again within the next 12 months. It was just on flash sale in August and September of last year, and if you search dvcnews.com, you'll see it has had flash sales in prior years as well. Just since January, CCV, SSR, and BLT have all had flash sales despite all being "sold out" resorts. Also, starting July 21st, the "welcome home" week incentive period will start. Last year, those were some of the best incentives on the actively selling resorts for people who were existing DVC members, so that could end up being enticing too.

Ok, got it. I will tell you that, just in the past year, Disney has been getting much less transparent with their direct sales. When I first bought just over one year ago, everyone could access the pricing sheets for any actively selling resort or one of the "sold out" resorts that was on a flash sale - they were publicly accessible web links and the sheet would tell you when the incentives or sale was ending. They have been changing that since just December, and you have to contact your guide to get individualized pricing sheets. Very frustrating. I was spending the last 15 minutes or so searching the AKV flash sale for you to try and see if there is any information out there about when the flash sale is ending. I can't find anything. I think most of us have just been presuming it would follow the same timeline as the actively selling resorts, where those incentives last until July 21st. I know I was considering the CCV flash sale this past December/January incentive period. I contacted my guide in December and she noted that the flash sale, although technically good until early February, could be pulled at any time. They didn't pull the sale, but they have actually done that in the past when the demand for a flash sale on an actively selling resort was good and the demand was more than they expected. That could have happened here - not sure. Hoping this has a happy ending for you!

I purposely did not do a "tour" yet. I simply went to the Riviera to meet my Guide to meet him face to face just as a friendly gesture. I'm the one that asked him about the verbiage in the terms of the Flash sale which only states a tour must be completed by June 8th but does not specify an expiration date. He took this to his management and they came back today telling him the Flash sale will end June 8th. I have written a letter to DVC management explaining my full situation and I told them in my opinion this verbiage was ambiguous and confusing and kindly asked if they could offer an extension in our circumstance. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Will see what they say! Yes...worst-case scenario we will keep playing the waiting game. I think if this falls apart we will just wait to see what Lakeshore Lodge structure looks like. Our Guide offered unprompted speculation that the Fort Wilderness cabins will be rolled into DLL. This matches my suspicions.

This is frustrating. I feel for you. What exactly has happened? Did you meet with them and they gave you pricing and told you it was only good for 7 days? There have been some recent reports of guides being told that they cannot offer promotional pricing 7 days after a formal "tour" even though the incentives are technically still in place. This may be what your guide is doing. I have only read sporadic reports of this, and it is not what they have done in the past. If I were you, I would still stick to your plan. Get your small resale contract closed and finalized then contact your guide and see if the AKV sale is still in place. See what they can do. If the sale is not in place and they really are pulling it June 8th, then, unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do. They can pull incentives/sales at any time. If the sale is still in place, but they're just refusing to sell because you're past your 7-day "tour" that happened when you weren't even a member, then I'd raise holy hell. (And you'll be able to tell whether the sale is still on simply by going to the add-on tool on the DVC member website once you're a member.). Worst case, you've got your small resale contract and you're now a member, and you will still qualify for member add-on pricing. AKV will probably be up again for a flash sale within the year - they've been doing it once a year for the past few years. Or, you go back to Poly or RIV or LSL as possible options. In short, there isn't anything you could have done to avoid this if they are in fact ending this sale June 8th. It was outside of your control. But, on the bright side, by doing this small resale first, you WILL save money if and when you buy direct. So, I totally feel your frustration, but just trying to see what is postiive here as well. Hope it is helpful.

Will it ever happen? Don't care, still love the hotel and we are CA residents, so it was the best option :) 200 points, may buy more soon either at VDH or resale at another resort. I know the hotel isn't close to selling out yet, but we wanted to stake our claim before that possibility. So if you request 3rd through 6th floor for a tub one and you get one thats not on the ground floor, youve got that room. But thats a very slim chance of getting it.
