An adult traded my child for the Haunted Mansion Mickey Ears Super Chaser a few weeks ago. We didn't realize it was a super chaser until about 15 minutes after the trade. My spouse keeps saying that the person needed it more than us, so makes us feel better. My child just likes trading anyways. Sorry, just wanted to vent since my FB post when it initially happened was removed. But, I don’t have an answer to your question. Kind of crazy there’s so many fakes out there.

Hi! We are lookimg to book a 2 night stay at Vero beach end of Feb next year. Thoughts between 2 bedroom lock-off vs dedicated 2 bedroom vs cottage? are the dedicated 2 bedrooms really that far out of the way? i read they are near the road and dont have ocean views. Does the layout (bigger vanity instead of kitchenette and connected balcony) outweigh the location? Or is the lockoff a better option to be closer to the beach? How do they each conpare to resort/ammenity location? And would you soend extra points on a cottage? My husband is pushing for the cortage but we will have between 4-6 people so not sure the splurge for cottage is worth it. interested in hearing your thoughts and feedback.

Our kids do some pin trading for fun purposes so if they end up with a fake pin it's ok. If they purchase a pin, we make note of it so they don't accidentally trade it later. I will say that I caught a little of the pin bug but not for trading. We purchased some Holiday party pins, the DVC member pins, and a couple ride pins for easy souvenirs. I now want to get a pin for this years Holiday parties..... it's a trap! ;) 46 years old and starting a Pin Board.

I posted this reply on your other post too, hopefully you see one of the two replies! 😀 There are a bunch of good videos on YouTube that can help with this and most of what I'll post I got from them. WDWKevin posted a great one comparing a real pins to scrapper versions of the same pin. I will say, some "fake" pins can still meet some of the requirements of a "real" pin, so you kind of have to check everything. I'll also add, if you like a pin, it doesn't matter if it's real or fake EXCEPT when it comes to the cost. Don't go buy a bunch of real pins and trade them away for fake ones, you're giving up real money for a 99 cent pin. Likewise, don't buy bulk pins and trade for real ones, we wouldn't have to have posts like this if people just didn't do it. "Like value" trading is fine IMO. We buy scrappers and trade them for other scrappers we might like and trade real pins for other real pins we see. Also, don't be afraid to ask the cast member whether they think the pin is real or not. Some CM's may tell you they don't know, as in they're not pin experts, but a lot of them know about pins and will help you out. Also, you can listen for some clues from them sometimes, like if they say "Oh, but you're trading such a good pin", they're probably trying to give you a hint. Most importantly - Most of the pins are boards are "fake" and if you bought one of the "lots" of pins from Ebay, Amazon, Walmart, etc. The 75 pins for $50 ones. They're all fake. "Real" pins are generally thicker. If you have pins you know for sure are real (i.e., you bought it), you can pull a pin off the board and compare the thickness. The little "nubs" beside the post on the back should be very sharp. If they're not, the pin could be fake. I have also seen fake pins with sharp nubs, so it isn't a given. The Mickey design stamping on the back of the pin should go the whole way off the edge. If there is a gap between the design and the edge of the pin, it is likely fake. The enamel should be "flat". If you move the pin around in the light and can see dips in the enamel, it is likely fake. When you see the same pin on every board, it is a tell tale sign it's fake. Unless that many people decided to go to Shanghai and get "exclusive" pins to bring to WDW for trading. 😂 Watch some pin trading videos before you go. Take notice of the pins the vlogger is showing on the boards and what seems to be on every board, then when you get to the parks you kind of know what to look for as a "fake" ahead of time. The exception to this is the "starter" sets you see at the pin stands/in the stores at WDW. There was a set (that they've recently stopped selling) that was 6 villain side kicks and now it's at Character Warehouse. It is/was a good deal if you are getting started, so you see them on a lot of boards. The diamond emblem on the back of the pin should be "one piece" if that makes sense. If it's very clearly three little stones in a Mickey shape, it's a bad sign. I'm newer to pin trading so I might be wrong, but I think the diamonds on the back are a relatively new thing. So you might see some pins that are a couple years old with no diamonds even though they're real. Last one is an example - Be careful with 2025 Wave A/B pins (little silver packs with either pink or blue logos/writing on them) as they've already faked them and you can buy the fakes in the gift stores in the area outside the bubble, (like the store with the big Wizard out front). The fakes won't be in the silver foil packs, they'll be multiple pins on one backing. In June I was buying the real 2025 packs and trading duplicates. I found some 2025 castles and didn't think anything of it because I figured they were new enough to have not been faked yet. A CM pointed out the fake when I tried to trade him and once he showed me the difference it was obvious. The fakes are very smooth, almost like they have a "clear coat" on them. The real pins have some "texture" to them. I don't know how else to explain it... On a more positive note, if you see a pin that is from a currently for sale blind box/bag pin or a currently for sale open edition on a board, it is probably real. Examples are the ducks, trash cans, etc. The 2026 Wave A pins (silver pack, green logos/writing) are a safe bet because they're so new. Wave B pins will be released soon and before they go in the stores, they put them on the boards so if you see them, they're most definitely real. Also, if you see a CM with a pin pad and the pin is hidden, like it's upside down on their pad, it is usually a trivia pin. It seems like CM's try and reserve the trivia for "real" pins. They aren't always though. This turned into a longer post than I expected. Main thing is have fun and try to trade "real pins" for real pins and "fake pins" (if you have them) only for other fakes. If you're not sure if a pin on a board is real or not just leave it there, unless you absolutely love it. And if you love the pin, it doesn't matter if it's "real" or not.

In addition to the already posted suggestions, when it comes to fans I'll highly recommend the one at the link below. It hooks on your waste band and blows air up the back of your shirt. When I was there in June I tried one for the first time and was amazed how much of a difference it made. Obviously you can also use it as a handheld fan too, but the difference in air blowing on just your face versus keeping air moving around your body was noticeable. It can also be used as a charging block, so it pulls double duty. I charged it every night and the battery lasted all day as a fan (I didn't charge my phone with it). It has a little kickstand on it so if you're sitting at a QS, etc. you can prop it on the table to blow air on you too. A couple cons - 1. It is heavier than standard hand held fans, but not detrimentally so. This is more of an issue when you're not using it and it's in your bag. 2. if you're a backpack wearer you'll have to adjust how you wear the backpack so the air flows. I wear a small/medium sized cross body backpack and just moved the bag to the side a little bit and it worked fine. You can also put the fan in the front/side of your waist versus the back. 3. It can be kind of loud, so when you're in a more quiet area & have the fan on it's highest setting, it sounds like you have a small vacuum in your pocket. If we went into shows or anything where the noise would be a disruption, we turned them off, but walking around in stores you could hear it. Waist Fan

Plus when Disney offered the extension at OKW id say DVC wasnt nearly as big or as profitable as it is now. Disney probably knows we would all re-up our contracts so maybe they will offer an extension. But then again the expiration date is so far out that anyone making decisions about an extension probably doesnt even work for disney yet. Who knows, may aswell enjoy the ride while we can!

Changing classic rides is always problematic. But going into Country Bears now and seeing kids engaged, laughing and singing along, in a show that was near closing, shows what a reimagining can do. It can keep a classic show from closing completely. I have been going to WDW since the mid 70’s. Will I miss the old CoP? Yes! But I hope a reimagining will make it a viable ride/show and keep it open. I will miss the older historic scenes, and will feel old since all of the scenes will be in my lifetime. Change is hard, but can be very good. I look forward to seeing what they do with CoP.

We have a split stay starting next Friday (3 nights) and another one in November (4 nights). As new DVC owners from Michigan, we figure this is a great way to check out multiple resorts each trip to determine what we like, and what we don't. I would hate to book a weeklong trip at a resort we had not stayed at before, only to find out we don't like it. So 1-2 nights on a long weekend is a great way to check it out.

When you modify your reservation to move the dates forward, DVC will apply the borrowed points first before any current-year points are used. In your example, your final reservation will use up all the borrowed points and then apply current-year points to complete the reservation. Show more

If there are 2027 UY points, those points could actually be borrowed right now and used for travel within the 2026 UY, which begins 12/1/2026. Now, if you have a delayed close because the current owner has a reservation they need to complete before completing the sale, you will have to wait until the sale closes and the contract has been set up in your DVC account. But, once that happens, all the points remaining are yours and if there are 2027 UY points, you could borrow those into 2026 and book travel up to 11 months from today (which would be in your 2026 UY). If you don't want to borrow, you would be able to book travel for dates in the 2027 UY which will begin 12/1/2027 starting 11 months prior to that, or 1/1/2027, but the most you will be able to book is 7-nights with a check-in date beginning 11 months from the date you are booking. So each day after 1/1/2027, you will be able to book a bit further into your 2027 UY. When someone says 20XX UY, they are referring to a UY that began in that given year. This can be confusing for people with UYs that begin later in the year, as most of the months in your UY will not occur in that calendar year, but in the next one. So, your 2026 UY begins 12/1/2026, but 11 months of it are actually in 2027.

That’s why I’m glad we have February use years on all our contracts. For a December use year : Your points run from December 1st to November 30th each year so to use the points that you would receive on December 1st 2027 for a date in January 2027, you would need to borrow. If you want to use points from another contract not at BCV, then you’ll have to book at 7 months. Hope this makes sense. We have had family visit for the day when we are there. We also have had a nephew spend nights with us who drove in. We just tell them we are expecting someone and they take the information at the front desk and they have always been allowed to come in. This has been a few years now. I would call Disney and ask which is better on their end.

A welcome home stay can get you into a resort that has no room in it. When you call and say you are hoping to stay here, they most of the time make it happen.

My last stay at BRV was a problem because the washing machine was broken in my villa. I was essentially forced to move to another room because the replacement washing machine wasn’t functioning either. Thankfully, the manager on duty refunded some of my points for the stay. So, I agree. The major appliances are not commercial grade and should not be mistaken as magical.

(As opposed to driving to VGC across the street 😅) Ive been to the grand Californian and staye at Pixar (before the retheme) but never had a vehicle there. Thanks

I have stayed at old key west twice and I went to visit some family at saratoga and did not like it there at all I felt like the resort was not walkable at saratoga, but old key west felt like a community and location wise to me feels better. I am happy to see that old key west is getting refurbished I am not a fan of those green curtains.

Here is an update, I went on the following day and was chasing Feb 14-20th at the Poly. I was on, my wife and I both refreshed seconds before 8 AM. Everything we wanted was once again gone immediately. This leads me to belive that people are actually using bots to game the system. However, the good news is this time we just lingered in the room refreshing the page over and over and during the next 15 minutes. During this time we were able to snag a grand flo booking, later i refreshed again and we were able to modify to a newly available Poly Tower Deluxe Studio with a Theme Park View. My advice would be to stay on and refresh because you cant beat the bots, but things will pop up.

Not quite the same thing, but hopefully we’ll be a nice relaxing time. We have Vero Beach booked for three nights after the cruise, and taking Derek‘s advice, reserved a deluxe inn Ocean view. Hope you all have a great time on the key holder cruise coming up. —Shalom! Micah

This thread is so great! We are doing our first split stay in September- 4 nights at BLT and 3 nights at BW. We planned our "switch" day to be at EPCOT cause we could monorail there from BLT and walk to BW at the end of the day. Worst case scenario, grab a kitchen sink while we wait at Beaches and Cream! There were a lot of helpful tips here- like airtagging your luggage, not doing 1 night at a resort, so on. We are also only doing the meal plan for 1 stay and not the other.

Great post and I will add to the recommendations to do this sooner. My mom did this back in 2017, drawing up the paperwork for which deeds would go to my sister and which deeds would go to me. DVC recommended to her to do it because they said it is a mess to try and sort out after someone has died or is too ill to handle things. My parents are still alive but their health and age (early 90s) means they can't go anymore (2025 was their last trip) and the points have pretty much transitioned to my sister and I and we will start paying the dues in 2027.

The bus loop is as follows: Grandstand Carousel Paddock Congress Park Springs Like was said before me, if you're trying to rope drop or peak times you might be faced with full bus and it does happen but in my opinion not often. If you've got kids and gear 99% of the time just take the stop closest to your room and you'll be fine. You can always make a room request to help you be where you want and the resort is really large so there is a good chance you can get what you ask for. I almost always ask to be by the Paddock pool, the bus stop is at the Paddock pool which is zero entry with a hot tub and also has a water slide and area for the little ones. There's a small food offering and refill station for your mugs as well as the bridge going directly to the main pool and lobby which would be maybe a 5 minute walk from each other. I added a map for your reference, hope this helps and you have a great trip with your family.

For example, California is a community property state…. There are also a lot of other sticky things that coud happen when it comes to a child passing and having multiple grandchildren (and the grandchildren’s apoises) have an ownership claim. I think putting it into a trust would potentialy be a better option to accomplish yoir goals. Happy to hear different opinions if we have any estate attorney’s on here…. Show more

Bus Strategy is the number one reason you stay at the Grand Stand. It is the first bus stop so that is great when coming back from the parks and you are tired. However, it is also an easy walk to the last bus stop (the Springs) which gives you a choice when going to the parks. If it is early morning and the busses are crowded because people are going to the parks for rope drop then you get on the bus at the Grand Stand. This guarantees you a seat and it ensures you are not left hanging like the poor suckers at the Springs bus stop sometimes are because the bus is already full and therefore it doesn't stop at the Springs (yes I've seen this happen). However, if it is mid-day or it is a non-peak time (not sure those exist anymore) you can chose to walk to the Springs bus stop and get on the bus at the Springs and skip the internal bus loop.
