We go to MK on the 30th since they do the NYE fireworks that night, and EPCOT on the 31st for the NYE fireworks there. However, I personally would not go to EPCOT on the 31st if not staying at an EPCOT resort. Trying to get back to the hotel after the show is a nightmare. I have rented out twice, so not worried at all. I have mixed feelings about this all. There have been 2 occasions when I decided on a spur of the moment trip and 1) did not have points and 2) there would be no availability even if I did. I think you need to do the OG first, then start working on the international parks. We have been to DLR and WDW many times, hitting DLP this summer, then hopefully Tokyo in the next couple of years.
Bought 3 BLT contracts over a span of 2 months without having stayed anywhere on Disney property before! A few years later, bought BCV without ever having stayed there. Did not regret any of my purchases.
No way I would pay that for a 2042 contract. Maybe up to 130. I would probably just go for a BWV contract which tends to be cheaper (unless you absolutely need Stormalong Bay or some other reason for BCV).
We often do split stays. Parks are MK heavy when we are BLT, then EPCOT heavy when at BCV. If you primarily just want to stay at your home resort, I don't see any advantage. If you want to try a bunch of resorts, probably best to buy the resort of best value for "sleeparound" points.
My guess is 150 to start, after they stay in a 1 bdrm and catch addonitis, at least 250.
