Random Club 33 question for the DVC crowd

Have you ever personally known anyone who successfully got invited to join Club 33 at Walt Disney World? I’m not asking for names or trying to get a referral, just curious what the real process looked like beyond sending the interest email.
Was it purely waiting, did they have a member connection, were they long-time DVC/Disney people, Golden Oak, VIP tours, etc.? I’ve seen a lot of rumors online, but I’m curious if anyone has first-hand or close second-hand experience with how it actually happened at WDW.

I have a friend that they're family went to Club 33 via a business that had a membership. That's about the closest "degree" I have to Club 33. Would be a blast though! I'd have to get even more DVC points if that happened.
